The miniatures by “Werkstätten (workshops) Flade” are something very special. In the Ore Mountains near Seiffen company director Kerstin Flade-Drechsel lives her dream of a manufactory where little treasures are elaborately handcrafted out of wood.

Out of the old Ore Mountain art of woodturning, that is rooted in her family, the daughter of the famous Designer and company co-founder Helmut Flade has developed her unique fairytale-like style.

The trained turner and graduated museologist designs the distinctive romantic angel figurines whose characteristic feature is their cute bunches of hair made of flax (Flachshaarengel). This felicitous use of herbal material gives the angels a beautiful liveliness and naturalness.

Every angel has been lovingly and creatively equipped with individual details. The perfected processing of the tiny accessoires shows that in the Flade workshops work on the highest level of handicraft is done.

The manufactory’s unique class shows especially in the wonderful Flade music boxes. Kerstin Flade-Drechsel embeds flax haired figurines in playful arrangements, that with an incredible richness of charming details tell whole stories.
